39

You're looking at my 39th birthday present. Brent bought and installed a in house speaker system and I'm finally with it and got an I-Pod too. It feels so luxurious walking from room to room with music playing above your head. My kids think it feels like we are at a store.

Problem is our C.D collection includes such titles as "Hits of the 80's, "Fabulous 80's," and "Totally 80's." Still love them, but I need to expand my playlist a little.

HELP!!

I've got an itunes card in hand and no idea what to purchase.

What are your favorite songs??

Honestly, I have no idea. I'm right there with you on the 80's music. That's the last time I actually listened to popular music that my teenager didn't turn on. Pretty sad, huh?

By the way, it's kind of a rush to make a comment on your blog- it's been a long time! :)

Hmmm i love all kinds of music. 80s is the best. But have you listened to Owl City? GREAT songs.

Oh your Dad brought your boys to our pinewood derby on Saturday! Your boys are getting big.

Well, if you wanna play it safe... and if you loved New Order back in the '80s... Bernard Sumner (lead singer / guitarist) has a new band called Bad Lieutenant that I'm really loving!! Sample "Twist of Fate", "Walk On Silver Water" and "Runaway" for a good glimpse of what they're all about.

Leona Lewis' new album, "Echo" is REALLY good too, in a not-really-related-to-the-'80s-at-all kind of way. Standout tracks include "Happy", "Out of my Head" and "Lost Then Found", which is a duet with OneRepublic. They're good too.

It's over a year old now, but I still completely love the All-American Reject's album, "When the World Comes Down". It's all good...

And SO many more... you've got me rolling now... might have to send you a birthday mix! :)

The best way I find new artists is to create a station on Pandora.com and then it plays similar music. Lately we've been listening to Regina Spektor & Sondre Lerche. Coldplay is always good and you know how much I like Ben Folds (you have to watch him though because he does have a few songs with swear words). Other bands: Wilco, Yael Naim, Feist, Jack Johnson, Dashboard Confessional, Death Cab For Cutie, Postal Service, Mae, White Stripes, Rooney, Stereophonics. That should keep you going for awhile.

PS I am glad you got an iPod, because now I have one too.

Happy birthday!! I was so excited when I saw I could actually leave you a comment! What an awesome birthday present from your hubby. I would LOVE one of those in my house.

My new favorite artist is Lady Antebellum. I think they have 2 albums out and they are AWESOME! My very favorite artist ever is still Rosie Thomas though. She's amazing!

Yeah!! I get to comment-on your blog!

I love sampling music on iTunes. When you purchase something, they have suggestions for other music you may like. My suggestion is purchase a few songs here and there. I hate purchasing a whole album and only liking 3 or 4 songs.

ENJOY!

I'm completely enthralled with "Chances" by Five for Fighting. I love everything he does but that song is lovely. I also love Jamie Liddell because his music is so happy. Cheers me right up!

It is fun to comment, btw!

Hmmm... If you ask my mom she would say eigthes rock or any band that wear's pleather skinny jeans.
I would say Taylor Swift, like any other 14 year old girl.
