It's just more fun with a FRIEND

Summer Vacation week number 6 down. I'm beginning to wonder when the restful vacation will start. Here's what the Spurgeon's have been up to this week.
I found this little guy in my kitchen. After convincing the boys that he really was better off outside, they raced to find their bug book.

After a little investigating,

we decided it was a Colorado Beetle. Don't make it mad, or it'll puff out a hazardous substance from it's derriere. Finding and identifying bugs is just more fun when there's two of you.

Dallin and his cousin, Tim, decided to work on some scout requirements. Baking cookies if definitely more fun with a friend.

For the past five weeks the girls have participated in the Pasco School District Summer Choir program. Monday through Thursday the school bus picked them up, they were fed lunch, had three hours of fun choral time with choreography and were dropped off back at home.

All for FREE.
Today they participated in their final performance. Here they are with their very talented instructor, Mrs. R. (Sorry Elizabeth but I only took one pic.)We are blessed to have so much family here in the Tri-Cities.

(Grandma Phyllis, Elizabeth, Kenley, Grandma Barnes, Me)

The girls had quite the group cheering them on today.

(Dallin and Cameron, Kenley holding cousin Madelyn, Aunt Emily, Elizabeth and Aunt Heather. Grandpa Barnes was there also, he was just the official photographer.)

Elizabeth did Summer Choir last year too. She'll be the first to tell you that it was more fun this year with a friend.

This little baby is my friend. Avocados, my craving. I can't get enough of them.

Summer evenings swinging or rocking on the front porch, really are more fun....

with a friend.

It is so fun to finally know what kind of beetles those our. They are so huge. Cool, but huge.

I am glad to have put a picture of the place where the girls did choir. How fun. They looked like they had a blast doing that. And free too.

That avocado picture took me back for a second. I was like what? Ed made a sandwich with those on them yesterday, I have to say, it you have to have a craving, that is a good one.

That front porch picture is so beautiful. Very cozy. Are you up for a chit chat? Cute bikers yesterday. Glad you are all having a great summer. Bye for now.

Oh I love avocados too! They are good for you! Your front porch is sooo cozy looking.

I am curious about that bug. Did the book say anything about the Colorado beetle being called a June Bug? It just reminds me of these really yucky bugs that came out at night by the the hundreds in Idaho. Just curious.

You are so darned right about the power of two. When you are going to do something fun, it almost seems pointless to be alone. Everything is better when shared. That choir program is incredible. There are so many great opportunities for summer fun right here in our own community, and sadly not enough people usually even know about them. So good for you to take advantage of such a fun activitie for your girls.

I've never heard of that summer program. I hope it's still around when Hannah is in middle school.

I love how much your kids love being around each other. It seems there is no fighting or anything. I'm sure there is, but it looks like your family loves to be together. Cute post and has it already been 6 weeks since school ended? WOW!

It's true, things really are better with friends to enjoy them with you. I'm so glad we got to go to the concert--the girls did awesome and both look so beautiful! Oh, and I'm jealous of your front porch...and your cool evenings to enjoy with it!

Fun summer! Bugs and all. Summer is always more fun when the kiddos have plenty of activities to do.

Everything is more fun with a friend...except for those few cherished hours after my kids go to bed that I am all alone, just me and myself...ahhhhhh......
