Little Known Facts

Fact #1:

Hermiston Water Park one day, and Silverwood Park the next, can be very tiring.

The exhaustion was worth it though.

The kids had a blast celebrating their cousin Tim's 10th Birthday.

I love this picture of Cameron and Tim,

(even though Cameron's hand looks a little misplaced. :)

Fact #2:

Arriving home from Silverwood and finding your property has been hit by lightening is a little unsettling.

We lost two computers, Internet, the garage door opener, the sprinkler system, all the GFI outlets, our new phones and lamps.

While trying to figure out why one electrical circuit still wasn't working, we came across this outlet by Britton's bed. He stayed home with grandma and grandpa. The outlet blew, sparked out onto his crib, where he was sleeping, and charred his bed. After seeing sparks outside my mom and dad checked on Britton and he was sleeping soundly, but didn't know about the outlet. We realize this could have been A LOT worse. Blessings come in different ways, we consider this HUGE.

Fact #3:

I can fix things.

We've been working to try and fix everything that broke during the storm. Dallin took this picture.

My kids are always amazed when dad cooks or mom picks up a tool.

Lamp fixed. I love having a project in mind, purchasing the supplies to fix it and it actually working.

Fact #4:

If you're an animal who lives at the Spurgeon home, you might have to help yourself to your own dinner.

This feline came to visit last month and decided to move in.

Fact #5:
When a 9 year old boy is in charge of the FHE activity, he'll probably choose something dangerous.

Dallin taught us knife safety skills. After quite a bit of blood, we put the knives away.

Britton was happy with his plastic version.

Sorry Dallin and neighbor Mattie for your injuries. Next FHE we'll choose a less dangerous activity.

Have a great day!

I am sorry to hear about all the problems the storm caused. That is so good your little guy was safe. Your family always looks like they are having so much fun. I laughed at the part about the knifes and FHE. It seems like kids and knifes always equal blood.

That storms blasted the neighborhood. What a mess of fixing up. I know who to call if Ed is gone :)

The trips looked like so much fun Deb. I too love that picture of Tim and your son. That is so priceless.

Love the new cat. I have heard all about strudle, but now I only will tell by his legs what he looks like.

Funny about the cutting thing. Oh well. Live and learn and carve right. At least it was a clean activity. Love Matties comment on glad that Britton is alive. Me too.

(led by Don) think that nothing is more fun in a lightening storm than to be out in it. That just terrifies me. I actually had to get mad and scream at my crazy husband to get back in the house. I enjoy watching a big storm as much as the next person, as long as I am in the house with everything turned off and all the windows shut

We have a picture from that little train ride at silverwood too! Its even in the exact same spot! I to love that pic of cameron and tim. The night of that storm i sat out side watching it. I saw the lighting start some of the mountains by Badger on fire. Scary, but quite a sight.

Wow - that's crazy!!! That storm did a lot of damage. I'm sorry to hear what you came back to. Thank goodness you weren't there at the time. So, how did you get your computers/internet back working? We're still having intermittent problems with ours. It takes some time to get it running. And I'm clueless!

Looks like you guys had a blast at Silverwood. What did Dallin think about the Panic Plunge? I can't believe he went on that. Did you guys go on the Aftershock?

I heard Jan talking about the lightening at church, but I didn't realize it was you guys! I'm glad you're all well and looks like you had a blast in Hermiston and Silverwood. Dave is actually trying to convince me of doing the same thing next week! Another time for me to watch the kids while he's playing, sounds like a party, huh? ;)

Love your post Debie! Sadly enough my first thought while reading it was "Oh cool, Dalling should help with some of the reparis and pass off some Cub Scouting." I am pathetic! The picture of your adopted cat is priceless! I am so glad your house is on the mend!
