Before Picture:
It's no secret that our little stray cat named Strudel, that decided that we offer good food and shelter and moved in, has now almost doubled our numbers.
I'm not a big pet lover, but these little one's are adorable. We are getting attached to these little ones, especially the little black one. Here's Huey, Dewey, Louie, and Sid. (We lost Stewie, the little one.) I was so panicky when the little one wasn't looking good. He couldn't find where to eat and he was really tiny. Kenley and I dashed out one night in the rain to buy some kitty formula and a bottle.
$25 a can. Isn't that more expensive than baby formula? I check on them almost hourly during the day. As enjoyable as they are, Strudel will be visiting the veterinarian at the soonest possible date.
It's no secret that I've been tagged a few times and need to get on this. I'm quite sure I'm the last person in blog land to do this one, but here's my seven random facts:

1. I'm obsessed with constantly moving furniture around in my house. I figure it's a great time to clean out underneath furniture and dust and I love to do it. I draw out floor plans and rearrange furniture in my head and then when I can't stand it anymore and I get that idea in my head, Brent knows he's in for some couch hauling.
2. My favorite food: An English classic Beans on Toast. You've got to try hot baked beans on toasted bread. When I'm feeling like a real treat, I put an egg on top. YUM! Whenever we have this for dinner (only once every few months), I'm always glad that no one stopped by unexpectedly and saw what we were eating because it's a little different.
3. I love to do the daily crossword in the Tri-City Herald. I know that's not so weird, but I have a system. Monday and Tuesday I can do the crossword puzzle in pen, it's so easy and straightforward. Wednesday and Thursday, it gets a little more difficult, so I reach for a pencil. Friday and Saturday I usually need a pencil with a big eraser. If I finish a Saturday puzzle without Internet help, I'm pretty proud of myself.
4. (My girls came up with this one) When someone says something and I know a song that contains that word, I usually sing it, REALLY LOUD. My kids are totally used to it, but when they have friends over, I have to be careful. Unfortunately, I usually don't even realize I'm doing it.
5. My children HAVE to have clean ears. I can't think of anything nastier than dirty ears. Ok, so the girls are old enough to take care of this one themselves, but I do a ear check now and again anyway. The boys are hilarious because after I clean their ears they ask me who won. (whoever has the dirtiest Q-Tips is the winner.) It's just a little game I came up with so they let me clean their ears without complaining.
6. I like to fill the dishwasher. I like to see everything packed just so. I have a really hard time starting it unless it's full, but sometimes it's necessary. I despise unloading the dishwasher.
7. I have a total of 5 cousins, that's it. Brent just thinks he may have 101 cousins, but he isn't sure. I think that's funny, but that may just be his random thing.
I'm tagging Jen W., Jeanette M., Kenley, Susan S., Kelsey R., Catherine B. and Sarah J.
Have a fantastic day!!

thanks for the tag. I am actually working on one very similar to this one & it will give me that extra kick in the rear to get it done! :)
thanks for the Chili recipe, sounds delish!
Fun. You are a grandmother cat style. Those are so cute. You have come along ways in the pet dept. I didn't even know they had such a thing for kitties. So cute. And love the names too.
Fun tag. I will make sure and ask for a word next time I see you. I have to visualize that.
I am so with you on the clean ears. My kids can't stand it because I am constantly checking their ears. Nothing sicks me out more than seeing gunk oozing out of a kids ear. Well, that and mouth sounds. Yuck!
That chili looks so delicious! I never would have thought to put cinnamon in chili! Yummy!!!
Don't worry Debie--I still need to do that tag too!
That chili sounds delicious! I think I'm going to give it a try!
What a great post Debi. There's so much to comment on that I better be careful to not end up with an 18 inch long comment.
Love the kittens. We had a bad situation years ago where our cat who had just had kittens was murdered. I had to buy a few cans of that kitty formula and a bottle to feed her babies and you're right, talk about sticker shock.
Brent's chilli recipe looks really good but way too spicey for me.
And he's right about the cousins, I have no idea how many there are. It was easy when Grandma was alive because she always had the headcount. And of course then everyone has the cousins on their other side of the family.
I would also rather load the dishwasher instead of empty it. There is just something rather creative about figuring how to fit everything in.
I can NOT stand when kids have goopy ears. When I used to volunteer in my kids grade school classes, there was always at least one child who would have dark orangey brown gunk in their ears. I wanted so badly to take them aside and take a Q-tip to those ears. Talk about a lawsuit waiting to happen.
Debie, you crack me up. This list is great. I learned a lot about you.
About the cousins, I'm pretty sure there are 51 of us first cousins, Garrett was #51. But as far as second cousins go, I think there are like a 100 something. It's way too crazy to keep up with, and I don't even know all of the cousins...isn't that weird?
I LOVE kittens but don't like cats very much. That makes no sense- uh?!?
I am SO glad to see Brent's chili recipe! I was recently called to chair our ward's activity comittee, with the first task being the trunk'r'treat and chili cookoff. I think I'll have Cindy enter the chili contest now that we have a sure-fire winning recipe! :)
And speaking of my wife, you two would be really dangerous together. She breaks into intentionally loud, obnoxious song whenever a word from a lyric is spoken around our house too. And the kids cringe when their friends are over! Fun Stuff!!
Fun post Debie. Brent's chilli is amazing!!! Seriously...last Monday night Branson hated beans. As soon as he tried some in Brent's chili it was a whole new story. (And it was so sweet of Britton to share his hot dog)
I am with you on the clean ears and don't you know you have to count all of us cousins on Brent's side as your own!
We must be soul sisters, or better yet, long lost "cousins".
I was trying to figure out a five letter word for "marks for removal", when I decided to take a break and check blogs! I lOVE crossword puzzles, Loading the diswasher, chili and embarrassing my kids. What fun!
I am going to try the chilie for our Ward Chili cook off.. Sounds yummy. And those kittens are SO Cute! I love them when their so small..
I loved learning more about you. It's funny I kindof do the same thing. If someone says something & there is a song of commercial slogan that goes along with that comment I finish it with that slogan. People look at me "Like What" But I just can't help it, it pops in my head & I say it...
I have to say I don't move furniture around much though except to clean under it..
How funny! I do the song thing too. And it is usually stuck in my head for the rest of the day.
The chili looks so yummy.
The kittys look adorable.
The tag was hi*lar*ious! I am with you on the ears, but I wished I had thought of a game years ago. The girls would cry that I was "touching their brain." I hate dirty finger & toenails as much as dirty ears. Oh wait, I should have saved that for MY tag. Thanks for the tag. I'm thinking...
Mmm that chili sounds awesome!! I'm glad it's no secret and you shared! Kittens GALORE!! I'm glad it's you and not me:)
fun post..
I also do a ear check as well... Dirty ears. YUCKY!!!!!!!
I actually think we have 102 cousins. . . =]
They are the cutest kitties ever.
Bye bye.♥☺♥
You make me smile. I bet your family has fun all day long.
I bet your kids are loving these kittens, What a surprise!
And thanks for the recipee! It looks so good
totally with you on the furniture rearrange thing--Blaine would come home probably once a month I'm afraid to admit when we were first married to a new house. It's slowed down since then, but I'm always rearranging things in my head.
Loved that you have a winner for the ear check. Very ingenious. Guess I could have used that idea as I remember once one of my boys coming home from school and saying their teacher asked them if they were growing potatoes in their ears! I should leave this as anonoymous after admitting that! Jer
I love the kittens! I think we will let ours have a batch of babies before fixing her. I love the seven things about you! :) so fun!
I'm writing that chili recipe down, thanks for that!
I love kittens, I have so many fond memories of my cat's having kittens growing up. I'm sure your kids will enjoy this.
And I love your list! I'm also obsessed with clean ears.
I love hearing new and fun things about people. LOVED it!
moving furniture is one of my favorite things too! it is so much fun!
