My Love Story

Inspired by posts offering love and appreciation to their significant other, I'm sharing the tale of a love story from long, long ago.........The Meeting of two.

Once upon a time there was a BYU coed who longed for someone to call her own. She prayed every night that someone would sweep her off her feet. But alas and alac, (I'm not sure the meaning of this word, but I'm using it in an effort to be more poetic) she got to the ripe old age of 23 and was still searching for her prince charming. One dark winter evening she received a phone call from the dashing Elders Quorum President who requested a meeting with this lonely damsel and her lady in waiting (roommate). The castle was scrubbed and cleaned and the two fair maidens sat in waiting for the gentlemans visit.

In walked Mr. Dashing E.Q. Pres. and his trusty side kick, Sir Brentus. The two maidens listened attentively, laughed at all the right times and tried to be at their most charming. Mr. Dash was indeed dashing for all the maidens in the kingdom (ward) found him charming and pleasing to the eye. Sir Brentus sat quietly adding his thoughts only seldomly to the conversation. At one particular point in the gentlemen's visit the quiet Sir Brentus and the beautiful bright princess from a far away kingdom homlier of the two maidens gazed upon each other with fond adieu.

This fair, but homely maiden and beautiful princess could not erase from her memory this visit and tried desperately over the next few weeks to arrange "accidental" meetings. She even left a love note attached to Sir Brentus's noble steed ('85 Accord.) Her mind raced constantly, she thought of nothing else but this gentle fellow. She had no choice but to express her fondness, for if she kept quiet any longer her heart would surely burst.

Now the King (bishop) of the kingdom was offering a reward. The winner of the archery competition was to receive an all expense paid feast. The homely maiden beautiful princess was the recipient of this most generous gift and sat staring at her messenger pigeon (phone) wondering how to invite Sir Brentus to join her at the feast. (A free dinner at Magelby's restaurant in Provo.)

The gentleman graciously accepted her invitation to dine. Now this invitation had taken a lot of courage from the maiden princess for she was not usually one to be so bold, but her efforts paid off. They enjoyed one anothers company immensely and even arranged to meet the following evening for a ball at the castle. (A ward activity.)

She learned of his faith and kind heart, his quiet, yet strong ways and that he had saved his first kiss for his one true love. Unfortunately the maiden irresistible princess had given hers up a long time ago :)

Quiet, shy Sir Brentus eventually asked this maiden beautiful princess for her hand, but not after many heart wrenching nights, for the maiden princess was not patient., (At all) for in her wisdom, she new what constituted a tale of happily ever after. Looking at this picture below the HOMELY maiden beautiful princess is sure that it was indeed true love, for with those glasses and hair do it could be none other., for she was shockingly attractive in the fashion of the day.
Next time, the home break in and proposal..........

I will always remember that year that all of us got married. Brent is a special guy, as nice as they come, and the fact that he saved his first kiss for his one true love proves what a great man he is.

Thanks for sharing such a sweet story with us.

You were definitely not a homely maiden! Those glasses...well that's another story, but it was the early '90's ;)

I loved reading this. Your kids will love this way of telling the story too. You and Brent are so perfect for each other.

Can't wait for the next installment.

This was way cute. But unfortunately, I could only picture this prince with a tool belt wrapped around his waist. The only thing homely were the glasses. I can't even hardly see your face. Brent is a keeper for sure. You guys have quite a love story and I didn't really know it, but glad I do. It was a fairy tale for sure. I laugh at what Sarah Jones said. The little sister in law to be and they are in the counting house counting out the money.

As many of you have already commented. There were a few errors in the lovely fairy tale so I have had to make a few edits. My edits are in Green.

Even though I was around for the tale, I loved hearing it again. I think I may have even taken that picture of you two. I was so jealous you met your soul mate & I had to wait for mine. The two of you just lit up around each other...I am glad the tale has a happy ending! :)

Brent is right, no homely maiden's in this story. Irresistible princess is much more appropriate! Way to go Brent!
