Anyone ever heard of the Drano test to predict the gender of your baby?
I am a little embarrassed to say that I tried it while pregnant with Britton. I blame it all on my S-in-Law, Heather. But believe me, I was totally for it. While sitting in the chair at her salon she told me that several of the ladies working there are convinced that if you take a "little sample" and pour it over the Drano crystals it can determine the sex of your baby, depending on the color it turns. So I humored them all and took the test. The test determined I was having a boy! HaHa, that was fun, but whatever.I am NOT doing anything drastic like that this time, because I already know what I'm having. Nope, I haven't had an ultrasound yet, that's not until the end of this month. But I may as well tell you now that our baby is a girl, and her name is Emma. No name secrets here. If you hang around us long enough you'll hear her name come up like she's in the room hanging out with us, not an almost 16 week gestation fetus.
My kids have even gone as far as creating a Mii for Emma. For those who aren't familiar with the Wii video game system, you create a character that closely resembles you, choosing everything from face shape to colors of hair and skin, freckles, endless choices.... So, here she is:
Meet Emma
This little computer generated girl brings a smile to my face like you wouldn't believe.
It's a smile of hope and gratitude.

I've never heard of the Drano test before. There are some very interesting test out there. I find it so cute that Emma has her very own Wii Mii already. So cute... little Emma ... so sweet. Love the name!
Her Wii is adorable! My girls love to make 'people'.
And I love the name Emma....it's always been one of my favorites :)
I heard about Emma. I am tickled to meet her. She is darling. Drano is not a test. What a wierd name for a test. Take Care Deb and thank you for answering a question in your words yesterday :)
That is really funnny and so cute. I really can't wait to see Emma in real life. Really cute. I love playing the wii.
Bye bye.♥☺♥
Ahh - How cute. Love the freckles..
So tell why do you know that this is Emma coming? Maybe Emma is going to be number 10! Maybe this is her little brother Drake & then Sally then Emma....
Just kidding you. But really did you have a dream about her?
I love the name Emma. I think it is such a beautiful, classic name. I, too, can't wait to meet her in person. How fun she already has her own Mii!
Oh love the name EMMA..... I am so excited for your family......
I have always loved the name Emma. If I had, had one more girl I think I may have named her Emmalene and called her either Emmy or Emma for short. You do realize that you can't leave things hanging. You now need a follow up post explaining how you know that baby Spurgeon is a girl.
I can't believe you are already 16 weeks. How exciting. Your family sounds like they are so excited for this little baby to arrive. Interesting about the Drano Test. I'm very intrigued.
Umm, maybe it's just me but time seems to be dragging until your ultrasound. I want to know that you're right! (though I don't doubt you a bit). I'm so excited for Emma to get here and for another girl in the family! And really, she and Madelyn won't be all that far apart. I hope they're good friends.
She's beautiful!
Wow, you have a name already?? We need to get crackin!
That is hilarious. We love love love making Mii's. Emma is a great name too.
She has your eyes. ;D
I knew all of the genders of my babies before having it confirmed and picked their names too. I think some women just know these things. I love "Emma".
I love that she already had her own Mii. She is definately a baby on the 21st century. LOVE the name, very classic! Congrats!!
Taking that Draino test when I was pregnant with Payson. I about passed out from the toxic fumes it created and was seriously worried it would harm me or my fetus. It did, however, tell me he was a boy.
I love digital Emma!
I've changed my blog address :)
Did you do this at the salon? Too funny! We will see! Can't wait....but I think it is Emma too!
I've never heard of the Drano test either. Interesting.
Nice to meet you Emma! I can't wait to meet you for real in just a few short months!!!
LOVE the name Emma by the way, and it really does fit PERFECTLY into your sweet family Deb.
I knew Maddie was a girl as soon as I found out I was pregnant with her. Never doubted it for one second. Sometimes you just know! I can't wait to meet Emma! I can hardly picture Britton being a big brother though! How exciting!
I would laugh so hard if that is what she would really look like :D
But now she is apart of the family.
Your hilarious! When is that belly going to pop out! You look fabulous!
YES! Way to go Brent!
Debie that is too funny. Today when your girls got in the car I asked if they were hoping for a sister. There answer was not only in unison but it was a loud resounding "YES"
emma is such a classic, she'll probably end up writing the next pride and prejudice=]
Love your Mii Emma. She's adorable - definitely all Spurgeon!
I love that the baby already has a Mii, and what a great name too!
Oh my goodness, I love it!!
Deb- I went to the gym because I just wasn't in the mood to even deal with sales people. I put my I pod on & ran - walked to get some of the frustration out. And it actually worked. Now I just need to make a habit of going..
And - what's up. Blog.. Do I have to keep telling you this everyday or what?
Just kidding! I want some of your treats. Are they all gone yet?
