Why do some things really bother some people and for others it's like:
"Water off a ducks back?"
I really want to be the type of person that just lets it slide. Well, one of my biggest fears is leaving the house wearing a new clothing item with the tags still attached.
I felt the color draining from my face: I was horrified to think he had been at work all day with a big M on his shirt.
He just said, "Oh, Nobody probably saw it."
My dad went to a Christmas party with us and wore pants with the big long size sticker running down his leg. I quietly and discreetly let him know thinking he could take it off under the table without any scene or commotion.
His reply, "I'll get it next time I stand up."
Am I the only one with irrational fears?

When I was in the 5th grade I was in the girls bathroom and took my sweater off only to have my friend start giggling....I still had the tag on my new shirt. NOT a good experience. Now I do as you mentioned....check, check again...and check once more.
I am afraid of that too. Have you seen that trend that some boys do where they dont take the tags off their hat, its the *in* thing I guess...doesnt make sense. Here is the first installment of what to do or expect in England:
1. Eric Mellors will kiss you, probably on the lips and many people in the Eastwood ward will be very confused as to who you are (they might think you're me). Also, there will be nowhere for you to sit as all the seats are already reserved (not literally, but they sit in the same spots every week).
2. Look at all flyers, they are always hilarious and use terms like OAP (old age pensioners)
3. Use words like OAP, chap, plasters and loo and abbreviate as much as possible - its the British way.
4. go to the fish and chip/asian food place next to auntie marion's, the owner is a great asian lady with an english accent...hilarious
5. go shopping, stores i suggest are Top Shop, NEXT and the gap in England has GREAT deals (I got a few pairs of jeans for 10 quid! and dont forget about the antique stores
Oh yeah I've had some real embarassing moments. I think most of my fears are irrational. you are not alone. I loved your post about the girls, They are just the way I remember them.
Your so funny. Tags have never been an issue with me. They are not a gross thing to look at. I find gross things a bigger fear. Goobers in my teeth etc.
I guess that I am like Jan- When someone points out a new tag- I say something like,"I just want to show everyone what a deal I got for this," or "I using the tag as an ascessory for this outfit." I guess a big goober, booger would be far more embarrassing!- not as many good cover-ups for that one!
That is my fear too. One time, I was sitting in the front at church and a sister came up to me and said, "Is that a new blouse?" Thinking there was a complament coming I proudly said, "Why yes. Thanks for noticing." She giggled and snapped off my price tag that was hanging down the back of my shirt. Embarrasing!
yes, i try to look and re-look for these pesky tags...and still miss a few. perhaps this means that i am buying too many new things? yes, i am sure that is what my dear husband would say!
My obsessions is ironed clothes (even my jeans) and stuff in my teeth and body odors, not necessarily in that odor, I mean order.
