Don't Forget the Vinegar!
England is not known for it's fine cuisine. In fact it has a really bad reputation of people cooking the life out of their veggies and bland weird things using strange parts of animals. Marilyn hit it right on when she mentioned
"The Chippie"
when I asked what people considered typically English. The chip shop: a fast food take out place which sells mostly fish and chips (french fries): found on most street corners, big city or small village.
Some are obviously better than others. Everything is fried and served wrapped in newspaper: a tradition, but it does absorb most of the grease . I have been waiting for this culinary moment for 19 years and I have to go and pick one "Chippie" from the thousands available. My order will consist of one piece of fish, chips and the luscious side order of
"MUSHY PEAS."

It won't be the same without drowning it in salt and malt vinegar. Yep, I'm excited for this treat. (Sorry, I've got this trip on my mind lately.)
What unusual food do you find delicious?

I too enjoy mushy peas. you can also order fish bits on the chips (its just the left over batter). heaven. best fish and chip shop = blue awnings in matlock bath (i think paul would agree too). and dont forget about pret!
Those mushy peas look like split pea soup which is my fav! I love to hear about other peoples travels and live vicariously. Keep on with ALL the details.
Do your kids want to come over for dinner? Ask them. I love pea soup and the color green. But this picture ain't working for me.
Fish and Chips- anything fried- YUM- send me some- okay!
I did enjoy the chippie when I had one in Scotland, the vinegar is the key to a yummy chippie.
Another thing I was introduced to in Scotland was Indian food. Little Indian resaurants are everywhere over there and now it is one of my favorite things to eat.
We go to the Indian restaurant here a few times a year and I LOVE IT!
OK. Most things I like but that pea mushy thingy does not look as appetizing as most things. Mushed peas are not one of my favorite things. Now peas that aren't mushed are a different story.
