These Two are Number One!!

Express Gratitude to your children

These two girls are so much fun to be around. They help me in ways you can't imagine.

For example, Kenley loves to cook. I can hand a recipe to Kenley and it's as good as hot and ready!! Can you imagine? This is invaluable. (We're still working on the clean up skills.) Her after school snacks include a recipe, blender and chopping board. She is literally the smartest, most perceptive person I have ever met (she gets this trait from her Aunt Sarah.) She loves her little brother, it's so apparant and obvious, that it just makes me smile.

Elizabeth and her cousin, Lauren.

And Elizabeth, Elizabeth, Elizabeth. Anyone that knows her will understand what I mean when I say she is just so solid, and even tempered, and likes to make her Mom happy. For example, she recognized her mother on the verge of a meltdown and takes the little boy perpetrator and plays with him. She is just so positive. Last summer on a particularly stressful day I exclaimed (in frustrated tones),

"I'm having a summer meltdown."

Elizabeth's response, "Oooo, That sounds fun."

In her mind it was some kind of party I was going to have with Popsicles and games.

And these two are excellent babysitters!! Anyone who has entered this phase in their lives knows what I mean. I am still amazed by this blessing and try not to ever take them for granted.

Earlier this year we made it to the top of Badger Mountain together .

These two are number one!!

Don't forget to tell your children and other people you love that you are grateful for them.

The England plans are all in order, we're leaving Feb. 21st. This is totally surreal to me. I'm excited to see my old ward building, old house, people I haven't seen in 20 years!! Soon, I'll post my list of must see places.

Denise Mathews was just as sad as I was that I wasn't having another girl (When Preg-o with Jack) She said, "Your girls are your Buds!" I have often thought about that. It is the girls (Or in our family, the girL) that takes care of the lil' ones and has those nurturing traits from early on. I know that your girls are so sweet and soooo awesome! I can tell that they already are your best buds!

Kenley aren't you supposed to be doing school work at school instead of looking at our blog?

Oh the dialogue between you and Kenley is cracking me up this morning.

I have always marvelled at how great your girls are. Kenley's sense of humor is the best, and she is just so much fun to be around. Her smile is infectious. That picture of Kenley at the top is beautiful!

Elizabeth, is well, the kind of girl every mother hopes her son marries someday. She is good to the core, and absolutely drop dead gorgeous!

Ok, can you please come to my house and give me lessons on how to raise girls? Mine are precious, don't get me wrong, but I can't tell you how many prayers I've sent up that this new baby be a BOY.

I know it will get easier with time, until it gets worse for awhile as they hit their teens, but right now...oh my goodness. DRAMA.

And Kenley is hilarious, btw!

Debie. We adore your family. I can't tell how much fun it is to be crazy and funny with them and they get it and want more of it. Even though they are solid good girls, they love a good laugh. I am grateful for them also. They are an amazing example and friend to Mattie. And future homework help I might add.

If creativity genes cant travel from one sister to another I dont know how genes can travel from aunt to neice, but thanks for comparing Kenley to me...shes awesome and I am glad we have things in common...Elizabeth is awesome too. About your upcoming voyage to the homeland...I will make a great list of the things I liked in more recent years that you might want to consider during your trip (I am afraid most of my suggestions may be food related).

Hey, it's Kristen in 1st Ward. I'm enjoying your blog. Your girls sound like they would be the BEST babysitters. I think it would be so fun to have some teenage girls around to help with the cooking and babysitting. Sounds awesome.

So cool that you will get to go to England! That's exciting. I can't wait to hear about your trip.

Thanks for the sweet comments you left on my blog! i don't think we have ever formally met, but I have found that these blogs have been a great way to get to know people! So I see that we both have Elisabeth's (or Elizabeth in your case - I went with the "s" so that it would say "lisa",after me!)
So you are going to England??? Wonderful....I went there years ago when I was playing violin on a concert tour. It was gorgeous! I am planning (or maybe hoping is a better choice of words at this point) to go there for the Olympics in a few years! I figure my girls will be old enough to travel overseas by then!

I LOVE and miss your girls! Bring them to Vegas for a visit. I might need to call to get details on your England trip.

I, like Jan, am so thankful for the example your girls are. My children {especially Owen} always love the attention your children pay them.

You are a great mother to recognize their individual strengths. You are lucky to have them, and they are lucky to have you.

Your girls are great! I hope Madelyn takes after them. And the offer still stands, Elizabeth can come live with us any time! You know she'd love the city lights here. No? Well, maybe just to visit then.

I so loved having Kenley in my primary class many moons ago and how cool is it to have a budding chef in the family. Maybe we need to have a throwdown at the family reunion. What a beautiful picture!

And Elizabeth what a beauty and to be equally beautiful on the inside, double dipping!

I love to watch you with your girls (didn't know I was watching? well I do!). You have a very special connection with girls. I loved to watch you dance at Marcus & Ash's wedding reception.
