This old toiletry suitcase was found by my mom while going through her aunt's things after she passed away. It contained love letters her huspand wrote to her while he was away serving in World War II. Sounds like a lovely, romantic story.(I think I was blushing while reading the letters though- some were a little spicy, especially reading them in front of your parents.) It now sits in my entryway.

This cool piece was given to me by Jan. I know there is a fancy word for this piece of wood above a door, Ballistrade maybe, I'm not sure- but it's now a shelf in my piano room.
What shall I do with this? It's not really old, but I like it.

I love the re purposed window. Great idea! Something I would use quite frequently if I had some wall space in my kitchen.
I'm not sure what is more lovely, the suitcase, or the story behind it.
Rusty dragonfly: door knocker?
Make a door knocker with it- I'm sure you can pull it off!
WHAT??? Danielle stole my idea as I was posting. Now you KNOW it was a great idea if we both posted it. :)
I love the old window, what a cool idea!
I can't believe you got that suitcase! I was there to pick it up and I went to the funeral and I didnt get a thing! haha, just kidding, I dont know what I would do with it anyway.
Debi. You never cease to amaze me. Would you please cease now. I can't keep up with my neighbor. Loved the suitcase story. The "dragonfly" could be attached to your weekly calendar window where you could note what your "draggin" about getting done for the week. HEHEHE......
I love it all. Where do you find those old windows? I wish we had an old fence to pull down too--I saw that frame in your house over Christmas and loved it! Matt's been itching to build something. We really need to live closer someday so Matt and Brent can have that shared woodshop.
i know where to visit for unique ideas -- talent, talent, everywhere with you.
I love it debie! I actually recently transposed a bunch of my great grandparents letters to each other that were from their courtship and early married years (he was a sheep herder - out in the hills for weeks at a time). It was such a fascinating experience to get to know them, and see how dearly they loved each other. Fun to have that suitcase!
You need to pay me a visit!
