From Backpack to Garbage Can

Since preschool my children have brought lovely papers home. Pictures, drawings, colored xeroxed papers, you know what I mean.

I'm not an ogre, but most of the time it goes up on display for a time and then it "myseriously" winds up in the garbage can. You can't put it anywhere close to the top because if it's seen, there'll be a BIG problem. So you wad it up as tight as you can and stuff it towards the bottom, under banana peels and gross stuff that no one's going to touch. You have to be careful though to make sure it's in the middle at the bottom because some garbage sacks are way too transparent. I've been caught before while changing the sack. It's difficult to know how to handle the situation.

"Oh my goodness, how did that get in there?" is my usual response. Awful, I know!

I do, however, save the good stuff. It's on display in my laundry room. See this organized mess.

I recieved a "keeper" Mother's Day card 4 years ago. It's a flower and then written along the stem are qualities my daughter thought I possessed. My two favorite lines,

"My mom is OVERLY friendly to her family"

and

"She cooks like your at a restaurant sometimes."

Both are meant as a sincere compliments, I know, but they make me

laugh and smile!

So does my favorite picture of the week.

You can't see it, but Britton was fascinated with this tiny, little ant on the floor.

Thank you Elizabeth, Kenley, Dallin, Cameron and Britton for making this amazing journey so enjoyable.

I love you, and you, and you, and you and you!!!!!!!!

I, too, am adept at getting old school papers out of the house, well-disguised. My house would be full if I didn't! What time do you get up in the morning? This post was on here awfully early for you today!

But what do I do about getting rid of all of David's books? Seriously, every school book that he couldn't/didn't want to sell back is in our office. Plus a bunch more. He cant seem to let them go, but he probably wouldn't notice if they went missing since he never ever looks at them...

It's always so hard to get those extra papers in the garbage can without the kids seeing.

Thankfully, I have kept the really heartfelt and sweet little things from my kids. Those are definitely treasures.

Love the picture of Britton!

Been there. Doing that. I hate it when they discover what I've done! Maybe in my new house, I can dedicate a room to every paper they have ever done. not.

I loved the card too. Your kids are sweet!

Homemade cards are the best! I love the stuff their little minds come up with.

Britton is adorable!

You have ants too? What are we going to do.

I love the papers. Papers papers papers. I can't imagine how much you can pile up with all the creativity happening over there. It must be huge. You have to "draw" the line somewhere. And at least you do display them. Which is really nice.

Your kids are the absolute bestest in the westest. How was Camerons School outing? Do tell. Thanks for the fun post and see you tonight. The girl get together :)

My kids don't even flinch anymore when I toss out the school work. There is no way, I could ever keep it all, and finally they've come to terms with that!

That mothers day card was precious!

I had to laugh because so many times my kids have opened the garbage can and said, "Why did you throw that away?!" And I always say, "Oops, I'm not sure how that got in there." What a cute post! Some of my greatest treasures are notes my kids have written me.

Yeah, I've gotten pretty good at sneakily snatching something off the fridge that the kids hung themselves (of some random thing I can't decipher but they thought was brilliant) and crumpling it up and tossing it in the garbage. Luckily for me, my kids never look at the garbage.

I love getting little homemade projects, but I still only have one real budding artist. I am sure it will change when Jack starts producing art in mass quantities.

I had a few boxes of old school stuff that I went through a year or so ago. Guess where most of it ended up? Yep--in the garbage can. I think your kids will understand...eventually.

What a cute picture of Britton. I love how you called it, my favorite picture of the week. I usually ask Tyler if I can throw stuff away. He's pretty good with letting me unless it's really important to him! I too hide the stuff at the bottom of the garbage can! Happy Mother's Day Debie. I hope you have a great weekend with your family!

Being a preschool teacher.....I remind myself not to spend too much time cutting and stapling....knowing that,(I too)the projects get thrown away.....or our homes would be invested with PAPERS!!!!

I can imagine with 5 kids the amount of papers. I have a box for each girl (the boys are too little) and special pictures go in their box for them when they get older.

Happy Mother's Day.
