Party Central

When Elizabeth was 5 years old, she came to me one day and said,

"Can we have a Groundhogs Day Party?"

I told her that I had honestly never heard of a Groundhogs Day party to which she replied,
"SO?"
"How about a Valentine's Party?" I asked her. We did have the party and that was the beginning of party central at the Spurgeons. Any excuse and we're partying.

So, yesterday when I received a snow cone maker as my Mother's Day gift {and I feel pretty confident in guessing that none of my readers have received a gift such as this for Mother's Day} we had no choice but to have a Snow Cone Party. So,
Cameron blew up some balloons,

Kenley made a menu,

Elizabeth planned some games. The three legged race...
musical chairs,

and some amazing tricks.

For the sugar conscious, Raspberry Ice Crystal Light is delicious over shaved ice.

For Family Home Evening we played BALDERDASH. We have entered the phase where it's a blast to play "more grown up" games. Here's an example:

The word was HAPTODYSPHORIA

Here's what we came up with, plus one of these is the real definition.

1. A rare liquid rubbed on the upper arm to get rid of the Giant African Spider bite.

2. The fear of black bears.

3. Some people get this odd feeling when they touch a peach or other fuzzy objects.

4.A epidemic which was brought to the American continent by immigrants from Fiji.

Any guesses what this crazy word means?

How fun was that gift huh!! I love snowcones. That was so much fun for Mattie. I LOVED the old fashion games that you guys played. 3 legged races are the best and musical chairs. It can't get any better than that. Maybe snipe hunting...That balloon blowing was a chore Cameron. Thanks.

HAPTODYSPHORIAL is the art of dying happy, but fearing it as well. Which causes one to spiral in emotions...

I really liked the peach fuzz..Fun post and great times roll on. Loved the menu too Kenley. I want a snowcone machine.

Do you know that when I was pregnant with Rylie, I craved a snowcone so badly (none were around here then), that I drove clear to Othello to a diner that I knew sold them... That is how much I want a machine. I got water Debie. Water.. Your gift is like a diamond :)

Wow- those are some impressive definitions. I'm guessing #4. Don't you love being able to have FUN playing a "grown-up" game with your kids? Playing games with my family is one of my best memories from my teen-age years.

I guess #2 - a fear of black bears?

It's totally official now. I really do want to live at your house! You are such a fun family. I love it!

I love Balderdash, but am absolutely terrible at it. Brooke and Monica are the queens of Balderdash in our family.

I'm guessing fear of black bears. Looks like a fun party. Wish I could've been there! I think a snow cone machine is a great present. Snow cones are my friend Mindy's favorite treat! I love the menu Kenley made...but you may need to raise your prices :)

You're so fun Debie! :) I love that you got a snowcone maker for Mother's Day! And that you made a party out of it! Looks like you guys had a blast. And Balderdash is one of our family favorite games too. I love seeing all the definitions that people come up with - very funny. And I guess #3?

It looks like fun, I have wanted to live on rd 80 ever since I heard you 2 were both gonna build there, and I'm still jealous, life is just one big party over there isn't it.

Last year I was visiting my mom up there and I went out and bought a nice snow cone maker and we ate them like crazy. (I was pregnant and that was all I wanted) I think I will bring it again this summer when I visit. Its not really needed here in ID.

You rock. How cool is that you had a snow cone party to celebrate getting a snow cone maker? I loved Kenley's menu. And my guess is #4.

Can we come?

Debbi, I love that you were so happy about the snow cone machine. A snow cone actually sounds really good right now. My guess is that one about the medicine for the african spider bite. If I win can I come over and get a snow cone?

My guess is the Peach one, and if you love Balderdash you have gotta play Beyond Balderdash! Our favorite snowcone flavor to make is by mixing pina colada with strawberry and you get Tigers Blood!

I love this post! A snow cone machine...I am curious...is that something YOU wanted? or is it what THEY wanted?

Either way, it made for a fun event. I loved the menu where every item was free...

and Balderdash lives as my favorite game to play...EVER! My family still makes fun of me because when I was young (like 11 or 12) I came up with a definition for a word, and the definition was...

"a term that means no air in Sweden"

Yeah, a good one huh? I will never live that one down.

I want to come and play at your house. All the games looks like so much fun. I LOVE shaved ice. Seriously, I could eat it even without a flavor. What a fun gift. You look like you guys always have a great time. Glad you had a Happy Mother's Day!
