I guess the theme of the week is feet. My last two posts have contained pictures of feet. It hasn't been intentional at all. So, here I am again posting a picture of my feet. Last night, while searching for something else, Brent came across my favorite pair of flip-flops that have been missing since last summer.

They obviously aren't attractive, but wearing them is like walking on a"dreamy cloud of luscious puff."
So, needless to say I was thrilled when he pulled them out from under the bed. In the 2.3 seconds after I first saw them, I thought to myself,
"Oh, I've got to post about this."
A nanosecond after I thought that Elizabeth said,
"Are you going to post about finding them?"
Why would I think that finding a pair of my favorite flip-flops would be exciting to anyone else but me? The real question here is,
What's the draw to blogging?
This blog contains the fun times and activities we do together as a family. To think of actually writing these things down in a book and including pictures doesn't sound fun to me. I suppose that's why I have never kept a journal. But blogging about it and including a picture of my feet, bunion (hidden slightly under my left foot) and all, is exciting. I'm going to publish this into a book this summer, and that brings a big smile to my face. So, for what it's worth, I found my flip-flops and I shared it because it made me happy.
A big thank-you to those who read the comings and goings of the Spurgeon Family. Stay tuned tomorrow for a report on "MY LITTLE TREE HUGGER," who is going to the Principal of her school with her cause.
So, why do you blog? What's the draw?

My blog is my journal. Once year i go to this great web-site that i found, and i download my blog into a hard cover book!!!!!
It is the best.
OH and i love your flip flops.. I am also a flip flop girl....
Blogging is like a community email and so much funner at that. I am officially addicted. Don't you love when you find something you thought was lost for good!
Like you, I've never really kept a journal. I don't know, I guess I just never really kept up with it. I love blogging though because it is a family journal with fun pictures and things my family have been doing. I, too, am publishing a book this summer. I think for me, the draw is not only keeping up a journal but at the same time I'm staying connected to friends and family. It's like killing two birds with one stone.
Those are some pretty cute feet! I love blogging because I feel connected to people I wouldn't otherwise be able to see or get to know. I have also been able to reconnect with old friends (like you) and that has been the best! I too am going to publish my blog in a book. It's great to have these day to day events recorded for posterity!
I guess I'm wierd in that I still keep a regular journal. However, I have copied down a couple blog posts into it! I love blogging because it helps me notice the small things in life, and take pictures of them! Did you ever think you'd take a picture of your feet in your favorite flip flops? Didn't think so. It has also been a great way to reconnect with people and feel like I'm actually part of their lives.
I do like your flip flops though. My favorite pair are from Ann Taylor Outlet a couple years ago. They're white--it's dirty in Vegas (in more ways than one :). They get black. I scrub them and bleach them clean again just so I can keep wearing their comfortable goodness.
I have those exact flip flops. mine have been chewed on and are wearing thin, but i have loved them. I love blogging because i get to stay in touch with people. i am not so great about posting but i do a lot of reading.
I'm like you. I don't find the joy in an actual journal or scrap booking, but blogging is just FUN to me. In the last year and a half since I've been a blogger, I have "written" down more things about my daily life with my family than I EVER did in the past. For that reason, blogging draws me.
Also, and this won't come as a surprise to ANYONE, but I blog for the connection with other women. Staying in touch with friends that I know well, as well as getting to know women that I have never even met before has been a huge blessing in my life.
And that is why I blog.
By the way, those are some cute feet (hidden bunion and all) filling those cute flip flops!
There is something to be said about comfortable shoes, especially ones that let your feet breath in the fresh air. I blog because you and Alicia inspired me. I used to keep a daily journal and I feel like this is a great way to record my family's history.
Love my Walmart flip flops, too! I, too, have the same exact pair. They are the most comfortable flip flops I've ever owned! Mine have paint all over them but still, I love them.
I blog for the same exact reasons as everyone else. Love the connections, the recording of family events, the validation from other women in the same circumstances, and for the chance to put a picture of my feet out there for the world to see because I felt like it. :)
Love your blog! So glad you started one.
Reconnect, journal, pictures, remember, reflect, support, socialize, learn, give, create, inspire and inspired, hobby, lots really. Love your feet and shoes.
Thanks for your blogging too. I have gotten to know even you much better.
I love flip flops! Hey thanks for the magazines - dad said that you wanted them back, but I thought you were just going to throw them out, so I ripped out some things and threw one away. I just wanted to check with you that you didnt want them anymore before I did that again. Just let me know. Thanks
I love the fact that, although I haven't seen you in person for something like 14 years, your feet are totally familiar to me. Wow- that sounded kind of weird, but it's true- and that's one of the reasons I love blogging. I would never feel as in contact with you as I would without it.
I have those EXACT flip flops. They are my favorite. Love me some Wal-Mart comfy specials.
I blog to stay connected to people, and I blog to keep a journal. One of the main reasons why I have decided to go private is cuz, all I do is post about my kids and family. I'd much rather have my friends and family read those special experiences than the WHOLE world. This was a great post Debie. Once again, another favorite of mine added to the list.
I can't wait to get my yearly blog bound! I will pay the money for that!
Blogging is my pass time! I love it!
You and I would never see each other....the busy life we live...but because of this blog we have a little glimpse into each others life!
Happy Anniversary to you both! It is fourteen years for us too!
I loved this post, Debie! There's nothing better than finding something you thought was lost and discovering it all over again. I've only been blogging for a couple months so far and I find that I get more satisfaction from blogging than from almost anything else I do.(And getting comments is the icing on the cake.) Turning blogs into an actual book is such a cool idea. What a great legacy to leave our kids and grandkids. Oh, sadly I can't wear flip-flops. I have never been able to stand having something between my toes. My kids all live in them though. (well except Shawn) I wish I could wear them, I think they are some of the cutest most versatile footwear around.
Blogs inspire me. Bloggers who dedicate themselves to those they love, share their talents, review great products, and are simply amazing is what keeps me coming back.
I'm so jealous of all of you who own such a comfy pair of flip flops. Especially since Jason just stretched out my newest pair wearing them for a few minutes when he couldn't find his. I can't seem to ever find super comfy ones! I also blog to journal, which accounts for all my randomness in posts. I have never kept a real journal, but in the last few months of blogging, I've already documented so much 'little' but important stuff for my kids to read one day! I love reading your blog, (even though I rarely comment)!
Blogging is such a great way to keep loved ones updated with our lives...that is why I do it.
I haven't talked to some of my cousins for so long and we are finally keeping in touch again!
Also, I have found a friend that I went to college with through blogging. I hope to find many more that I've lost contact with.
I love blogging!
I blog because I have one just because you didn't want me to comment on your account anymore. But I gess I also blog to give other peole another thing to look forward to do almost every day.
blog4ever!
I blog as a way of journaling. I can record daily happenings....both big and small. I can share my experiences with Elisabeth to other mothers going through similar situations.
I can keep in touch with family and friends who don't live near enough to be apart of our lives in person.
I can be inpired by others.
I can get to know people that I never before would have known.
Blogging for me has been a blessing.
