Going Solo

Tonight there was a choir concert at McLoughlin Middle School.

Let me tell you, there was one nervous girl.

She had been nervous for a few weeks, and today, the day of the concert, was no exception.

As she sat in the big cafeteria, her stomach was churning and had a million butterflies.

Her heart was pounding and she became quite teary.

No, it wasn't Elizabeth that was the nervous wreck, it was me. I got through it OK though.

As Elizabeth walked to the microphone to perform her solo, she carried herself with such confidence and ease. She did an amazing job.

Here she is with some friends before the performance, no sweat.
Jenna, Hannah, Elizabeth, Madison and Audrey

During the performance, cool, confident and awesome.

After the performance, her usual calm self.

I don't know where my kids get their confidence from. At their age I would never have willingly auditioned for a singing part. Here we are, I'm feeling a lot better thank you.

When I was in Primary I remember my mom and dad had to encourage (bribe) me with the promise of six of these treats to get me to perform my song for the Primary Stake Musical Festival. It took ice-cream to get me to face my fears.

I admire your confidence and talent Elizabeth. You're amazing!!

Elizabeth has a beautiful voice! I totally understand your nerves- I do the same thing with Rebekah. And I'm always amazed that she can do things that I couldn't- she is better than I am in so many ways.

Wow she did awesome! If I had tried to do that my heart would be poping out of my chest! I think I'll be the nervous mom too. You did good. :)

Anderson just came over and said, "Oh I thought you were on itunes. Elizabeth did REALLY good." I'm so sorry I missed it. Elizabeth is one amazing girl. She is all around great and a pleasure to be around. I know she will have a well deserved blast with Heather on their trip.

Debie, some ice cream is sounding pretty good this morning. Oh the things that will convince us to fight our fears. Your daughter is beautiful and she did such a good job. How fun to watch her perform with confidence and ease. She's a gem for sure. Thanks for sharing!

Wow! She has such a sweet voice! What a beautiful girl! I would have been a complete wreck, too. There's no way I would have ever done anything like that at her age! Way to go, Elizabeth!

Elizabeth sounds great! Thats cool that you could put up a video. When I was littler I would do things like that (plays, singing in church etc.) but now I am a total coward!

So proud of her and you. You stuck it out and she didn't let you down. She is so beautiful and she has a wonderful voice. I don't get to hear her sing much, and that is so great that she is developing that talent.

Way to go E. And her friends look already too. Great memories for sure Debie. Mattie had fun too. Thanks.

As always, Elizabeth is beautiful. In fact, that's a really cute bunch of girls! Watch out boys--these girls will be 14 before you know it! I'm so glad you included a video. I really didn't know Elizabeth had such a wonderful voice! Way to go Elizabeth! You are amazing.

I agree with Sarah--I used to do things like that all the time when I was younger, but ever since I left home I'm a chicken.

Can't wait to see Elizabeth next week!

Great job Elizabeth!

She looked so confident and she sounded great. I do understand the need for sedatives for Mom when our kids are performing though.

She is awesome, and she got that confidence because you instilled it in her. Great job, both Elizabeth and Mom!

How wonderful for both of you. I know what you mean about the nerves. As mothers and wives I think a big part of it is the feeling that our children and husbands too, are somehow an extension of ourselves. I think it's all part of being a nurturer. Hopefully Elizabeth will sing at the Christmas party this year. I would love to hear her.

Very impressive!! I had no idea that Elizabeth was a singer. She's a very talented and beautiful girl.
I would have been nervous just like you, but even more if I were her! I get so nervous to be in front of people, even if I were to sing with a group of people because I feel like all eyes are on me. But, when I'm on the basketball court I don't mind the possibility of all eyes being on me! That's the strangest thing!!

Who doesn't love a good ice cream--I don't blame you.

Elizabeth did a great job last night. She told me that she didn't want to be posted on MY blog. But I guess she didn't mind being posted on YOUR blog. Thats ok. Nice job Elizabeth.
Bye bye.
